*** This workshop requires a separate registration from the Conference. The course can be combined "DAX and Calculations in Power BI from Rookie to Rock Star" on 10/11 for a reduced price. Registration is avaliable here. *** There is data in every system, organization, and environment these days. The process of getting insight from the data is not only for data analysts anymore. By the time you send the data to the analyst, explain the business logic to them, and ask them to build the report and dashboard, your requirements might have changed. In this world, getting insightful information (reports and dashboards) out of any data is fortunately possible with tools such as Power BI Desktop. You don’t have to know about Databases, development, or business intelligence to build your report and dashboard. Anyone can do this. It is going to be one of the essential skills in any job these days to be able to analyze the data. Even if you are not a data analyst, you are operating in part of a business that is dealing with data, and what would be more useful than being able to generate insightful information and dashboards from that data and make informed decisions. This 1-day workshop is designed to get you from the ground zero of using Power BI into being able to build reports and dashboards easily using Power BI. The workshop starts with connecting to the data sources, preparing the data, transforming it, cleaning the data, and removing unnecessary parts of the data using Power Query. It then continues with modeling the data, building data entities (tables), creating logical relationships between them, and applying business rules using calculations in DAX language in Power BI. It then gets to the visualization part of the data, the art of building an insightful report and dashboard that brings the information right in front of the decision-makers' attention. Finally, the course finishes with the process of publishing the report, sharing it with other users, and scheduling it so that the data gets automatically updated without a manual process. This workshop covers the topic below but is not limited to it; Connect to data sources and prepare and transform the data using Power Query Reza Rad, the author of more than 13 bestseller books on Power BI and Data Analytics, is an international speaker and trainer who will be teaching this course. He has developed the most comprehensive Power BI training program worldwide, and he has been teaching Power BI to thousands in the past decade. He has mentored many and guided them on their journey to use Power BI. The course includes many demos and hands-on exercises, so bringing your laptop would be helpful, although not mandatory. Program Level: Beginner Delivery Method: Group Live CPE Credits: 8 Prerequisites: None Advanced Preparation: Bring your laptop with the latest version of Power BI Desktop installed. You've built the semantic model. You've tuned the DAX. Your reports are solid. But your users don't want to dig through reports. They want to ask questions and get answers. Microsoft is betting big on AI with Fabric IQ. But the demos make it look easy. In reality, getting your semantic model to respond accurately takes deliberate preparation that most people skip. This hands-on workshop is built for Power BI practitioners who want to make their data talk. You'll start by understanding the Fabric IQ landscape, including how Ontology defines the semantic backbone that makes AI responses consistent and governed. Then you'll get hands-on, taking a real semantic model through the full journey from static reporting to conversational analytics: You'll leave with a working Data Agent, a clear understanding of how Fabric IQ governs your AI layer, and a repeatable process for making any semantic model conversational. *** This workshop requires a separate registration from the Conference. Stop treating AI like a search engine and start using it as a digital workforce. In this high-energy, project-based academy, you will move past basic prompting into the world of "Agentic Workflows." You will learn how to build agents that do not just talk, but actually perform multi-step tasks using the Model Context Protocol (MCP) to securely connect to your local data and business tools. We will balance deep technical "lab time" with critical leadership talking points. You will discover how to identify high-value AI use cases while preventing "Shadow AI" through proper governance and audit trails. By the end of the day, you will have built and tested a functional AI agent designed to solve a real-world productivity bottleneck. Come prepared to build, break, and deploy. *** This workshop requires a separate registration from the Conference. You've built dashboards. You've written DAX. You know Power Query inside and out. But you've hit a ceiling: your reports work, but they don't scale. Data refreshes break. Sources multiply. You've heard Microsoft Fabric is the answer. But knowing the features isn't the same as knowing how to get there. This workshop is built for Power BI practitioners who want to take what they already know and put it to work, architecting real solutions that scale with where their organization is headed.
In this hands-on workshop, you'll work through the patterns that turn report builders into analytics engineers:
• Ingesting data into Fabric using Dataflows Gen2 and the Power Query skills you already have
• Transforming and layering data using the Medallion Architecture (Raw, Transformed, Curated) for reliability and maintainability
• Orchestrating automated workflows with Fabric Pipelines
• Connecting Power BI to Fabric using Direct Lake mode for real-time reporting
You'll leave thinking like an architect, ready to build analytics platforms instead of standalone reports.
